Variety from the cloud
Every day, numerous editors work on the wide range of content in the ARD Mediathek. The ARD Composer, a cloud-based content hub, supports them with sophisticated technologies.
Each editor has his or her own account and uses it to curate video content from a wide variety of sources for the media library – and can in turn compile this content precisely for the numerous playout channels: for TV platforms, smartphone or tablet apps, for PCs or smart TVs. The content modules can be created manually, but automatically generated collections are also part of the offering.
The tool also already suggests the editing and assignment of different image variants for the content. The latest web technologies such as cloud services, microservices architecture, NoSQL databases, Docker containers and React front ends are used.
