Decentralized success story
How much money do public broadcasters need to fulfill their legal mandate? The answer to this question is provided by the Commission for the Determination of the Financial Requirements of Broadcasting Organizations (German: KEF) in its report, which usually contains a recommendation for contributions every four years. A mammoth project with several hundred pages, which we have made leaner and smarter with the 3st publishing platform Contento.
Decentralized content maintenance and an efficient layout process were at the top of KEF's wish list. After all, a team of more than 30 editors at 16 different locations compiles data to create the report. Thanks to Contento's sophisticated user rights system, we were able to customize the workflow for this process. This means that the different users can access the content according to the guidelines of the central office in Mainz.
In the end, the principle is as effective as it is secure: all editors work directly in the layout templates created by 3st and everyone can maintain their individual area. For the first time, the KEF report is created collaboratively in a single overall document.
An important add-on: design adjustments in tables or graphics are possible at any time in the Contento workflow. As a result, the number of pages has also been significantly reduced thanks to a better layout. Hundreds of cross-references and table numbering have been automated, replacing laborious manual work.
